Drake and Ginger have done an amazing job with getting Landstuhl crossfit up, running and succesful. I had the privilage of working out with Drake at O dark thirty while stationed at LRMC. It was the best workouts I have ever been put through. He challenged me, pushed me and encouraged me. I dropped 4″ off my waist, performed one of my best PRT (Navy pt test) scores and am in the best shape of my life since 18 (40+ now). I highly encourage anyone to take advantage of the training and education that Landstuhl Crossfit can provide.

I wholeheartedly agree with using Starting Strength as the basis for strength gains. I used it and in 4 months increased my back squat by 70 pounds and my deadlift by 50. And I’m not done yet. It absolutely works.

This program is great. I have lost 4 inches off my waist and Im keeping it off. Sure the WODS kick me in the a%% most of the time but I feel good afterwards. Drake and Ginger, you guys are the best, and with the personnel time you guys devote to individually assisting us and helping us do the proper technique , your knowledge is paramount!!! I must admit though, this is not for everyone, and they are out there, but it is very fortunate oppurtunity that Im here to be a part of.

With the amount of attention that MSG and Ginger Sladky have giving to each patron who utilizes this facility, it would not be hard arguing the point that working-out in this facility is just as safe, if not safer, than working-out anywhere else within the KMC. These two people sincerely care about seeing others reach their personal fitness goals. The CrossFit style workouts conducted in this facility provides the intensity, variety and comradery usually obtained through traditional military physical fitness programs. The main difference is that everyone who walks through these doors wants to be here and is eager to push themselves in order to see positive results.

BLUF- This facility and the two people that have put so much time and effort into establishing it have helped me restore my “Warrior Spirit”, an attribute I will need when I return to the Screaming Eagles this summer.

I am an employee at LRMC as well as a dependant spouse. I have been attending the Cross fit Am sessions for several weeks and have been delighted and revitalized due to this program. Working and having young children make it logistically very difficult to work out for any period of time. When my husband mentioned the cross fit with MSG Sladkey that was before work, we decided that this was something our family could handle. The instruction and attention that MSG Sladkey gives to us is life changing. I feel that this is something that my family and I will be able to throughout our lives. As of yesterday as a civilian I am no longer able to take advantage of this remarkable program, I find this VERY discouraging and disappointing. Please allow us to attend! If we are willing to take time out of our live for this it does not seem right to not be allowed to participate. I truly hope this changes soon!

I am a military spouse and also a DoD employee, an  RN working in the ICU at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.  I started the Crossfit program approximately five weeks ago at The Landstuhl Strength Conditioning facility with 1Sgt Sladkey.  I have been so excited and motivated to go work-out for the first time in my life.  I am actually already seeing great results.  The guidance and motivation that is given is exactly what is needed to encourage an excellent work-out environment.  I have to say that I am very disappointed to hear that I can’t continue to participate at this facility simply because I am a civilian.  As a military spouse overseas, my options are very limited.  And I honestly felt that I had found a work-out plan for life.  I felt that I had people around me that cared about my health and wanted me to succeed.  I have formed many new friendships as a result of my experiences at this facility.  So needless to say, I am very discouraged and hope that this is only a temporary set-back for this facility in regards to civilian access.

Sincerely,

Working out and staying fit are not an option when it comes to being in the military. Cross fit has allowed me personally to excel physically without the monotony of doing only push ups, sit ups, and running which are a required. Having to work nigh-shift at the hospital… I enjoy the option of going at 0500 or at 1630 which can accommodate my and most individuals schedules. After joining the military in a Medical (hospital) enviornment I feel as though I have lost the competitiveness/ group PT mindset. Cross Fit incorporates all of this, and a GREAT workout for Medical, Non-medical, Military, and even non military personel! MSG Sladky and his wife Ginger are very knowledgeable of all aspects of Cross Fit to include nutrition! This facility benefits all types of people in more ways than one and it would be a shame to see this opportunity taken away!

It is not easy to work full time and consistently work out. Since joining CrossFit a month ago, I do not want to miss a day working out. I look forward to the variety and challenge, and I love the community. There are the same faces and new faces every day. We push each other hard, then come back for more the next day.

Since beginning The Landstuhl Strength Conditioning program six weeks ago I have seen improvements both physically and emotionally. It has truly become a necessity in my life. Finding out today that I, as a dependent, am currently (hopefully temporarily) no longer allowed to utilize the Landstuhl Strength Conditioning and Combatives facility was depressing. Simply put, this must change. Please allow both civilians and dependents the use of the facility.

Thank you,

Since beginning crossfit training several weeks ago I have definitely seen improvements both physically and emotionally. I definitely feel the training has increased my strength and endurance. It also everyday challenges me to complete physical tasks which I never before imagined I would be able to complete. I feel that from this training I will be able to increase my PT score substantially. I am currently active duty Army and enjoy working out there with my fellow servicemembers as well as civilians. It is a very positive and encouraging atmosphere that both 1SG Sladky and his wife Ginger have created and I will be very disappointed if I cannot continue to utilize this facility as it currently stands.

Sincerely,
2LT Lauren Hansen
